About Us

Hi, I’m Bettina Carey—owner, publisher, and editor of Seattle Means Business Magazine.

Seattle has built giants—but thousands of small and midsize businesses that fuel our economy remain invisible. That’s why I launched Seattle Means Business Magazine: to tell the founder stories nobody else is telling and to connect people, ideas, and opportunities across our city and beyond.

Traditional business media moves too slowly, feels fragmented, and often overlooks underrepresented founders. As a result, buyers, talent, and investors lack a single, trusted source to discover companies worth supporting. We’re changing that.

Here’s how:

  • Weekly Founder Spotlights that people actually read, watch, and share

  • On-camera features and interviews designed for social and events

  • A searchable founder directory by industry, stage, and certifications

  • Built-in calls to action—“Meet the Founder,” “Sponsor Local,” “Hire”—that convert connections into impact

Now, with Seattle Means Business Magazine, we’re scaling this model across tech, food, sustainability, retail, and more. Our revenue streams include sponsorships, premium founder memberships, “Best Of” lists, event partnerships, and research briefs for civic and corporate partners. This is media that drives commerce—not just clicks.

So, whether you’re here for founder spotlights, chef interviews, local events, or business insights, welcome. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to catch every on-camera feature—and join us in proving that Seattle truly means business.
