Experiencing Modernism Week in Palm Springs for the first time was electrifying! The energy there was infectious, celebrating architecture, design, and culture most vibrantly and stylishly imaginable. It was where the past met the present, creating a unique and dynamic atmosphere.

Modernism was all about innovation, simplicity, and a deep appreciation for form and function. But in Palm Springs, it transcended that—it was a lifestyle, a mood, a feeling. There were explosions of color, bold geometric patterns, and a seamless blend of old and new everywhere I looked. Vintage treasures were given new life, mid-century masterpieces stood proudly against the desert landscape, and every detail—whether in fashion, furniture, or facades—told a captivating story.

The week was filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection. There was a contagious excitement in the air as people admired the great architecture, impeccable interiors, and thoughtful design. And I must say, Seattle showed up in full force! Our Pacific Northwest crew brought their A-game, sporting fashion that nodded to classic Palm Springs but with a fresh, modern twist.

A standout moment was the incredible hospitality of Marshal McReal and John Friedman, who opened their stunning home for both a tour and an unforgettable party. Their space embodied everything Modernism Week celebrated—style, warmth, and a true appreciation for timeless design.

As a first-timer, I was already hooked. There was something magical about this blend of nostalgia and forward-thinking creativity. Palm Springs had a way of making the past feel fresh again, reminding us that great design is truly timeless.

Even though Modernism Week has ended, it doesn't mean you can't still appreciate and explore the historical architectural homes in Palm Springs. The city's rich heritage of mid-century modern design is always on display, with many iconic homes and buildings accessible year-round. Whether you're taking a guided tour or simply strolling through the neighborhoods, you'll find that the spirit of Modernism lives on, offering endless inspiration and a timeless connection to the past. So, even outside of the event, Palm Springs remains a treasure trove of architectural beauty waiting to be discovered.
